You Win Some, You Lose Some

Cutecouple_5So there was this great art festival this weekend that Scott and I had planned on going to on Saturday. We made plans, set up the time to meet and how much time we’d have down there and all that great stuff. Did we go? Nope.*

Someone (Scott) overslept the alarm, was late picking someone else (me) up and these two people didn’t make it in time to Kentuck. The plan was for Scott to pick me up at noon and then we’d get to Kentuck around 1 p.m. and have about 4 hours to browse the art. [The hours for Kentuck were 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Sunday didn't work for either of us since we both had other things planned for Sunday.] Scott made it to my place about 2 p.m. and we didn’t end up leaving until 3 p.m. Which put us in Tuscaloosa around 4 p.m. We also stopped to eat, so by the time we actually arrived in Tuscaloosa, there was only 45 minutes left of Kentuck and so we decided to go to Serendipity Needleworks instead.

Knitters, you may want to sit down for this one. I DID NOT BUY ANYTHING. NOT A THING. I’m not really sure what happened. I think it’s because I was really wanting some size 6 circs and their needle selection was really poor and they didn’t have any Clover six 6 circs. I had a "Well, if they don’t have what I want, then I don’t want anything!" moment. Scott had never been in a LYS and was pretty good about it, considering we had both just eaten and were a little zombie like. It’s amazing that we weren’t comatose in the store considering that they had some incredibly mellow music on and we were, well, zombie-like. Voxlpa_right

After the LYS, we went to the ABC store and purchased some Vox Vodka for the "Stock the Bar at the Barn" party for Britt and Elizabeth’s pending nuptials. Neither of us are big drinkers and so alcohol was chosen for aesthetics, not quality of taste. Hence, the Vox was the gift of choice. How cool is that bottle? They didn’t have the flavored Vodka, otherwise, I probably would’ve gotten that instead. I have no idea if this vodka is any good or not, but who cares!?! It looks good.

Millionaire_shortbread We also picked up Scott’s art from my sister’s place while we were in Tuscaloosa and ate her millionaire shortbread. It was delicious. It was a sugar overload. It will put you in a diabetic coma even if you’re not a diabetic, but damn it was good. [This is not a picture of the millionaire shortbread that we ate, but just a picture that I found on the internets. I love the google.]

After that we made a few stops to find the perfect gift bag for the incredibly tall bottle of vodka, only to find that they don’t make a tall enough gift bag. Therefore, we went with option #2. Really pretty ribbon to tie around the brown paper bag and a sumo wrestler card for the happy couple. I have an aversion to wedding propaganda canned greeting cards. Therefore, I went with wacky. Hence the sumo wrestler card. It was great.

There is this weird space/time continuum thing in Alabama where all cities are about an hour apart from one another. Not really, but that was the case Saturday. Birmingham is an hour from Tuscaloosa. Tuscaloosa is an hour away from Montevallo. The barn party was in Montevallo. We got lost a couple of times finding the house once we were in Montevallo (actually Brierfield, but whatever), but eventually found it. We had a pretty good time at the party.

I actually did not take any of these photos. They were taken with April’s camera and several different photographers. Please note, there is not a single picture of the bride-elect or the groom. This is simply par for the course for me. Whatever. Also, for whatever reason, the red-eye reduction on April’s camera was not functioning all that well. Therefore, people looked kind of evil.

[*Our not making it to Kentuck probably had something to do with me cussing out both the universe and karma on Friday. I'm not positive about this, but I'd say it's a pretty good hunch.]

I’m telling you now. I spent the majority of my weekend trying to undo the bad karma you started by cursing it on Friday. Do you have any idea how many Hail Marys I had to recite? It took me an hour alone trying to figure out what was said in a freakin’ Hail Mary!!! You’re lucky you made it to Monday, missy! =) You looked good being all evil in those pics….and, by the way, what the heck is Kentuck? It just sounds like you were too lazy to write out Kentucky. =) I’m calling tonight to talk to you when I get out of work…..what time do you get out?
