I used to join *KAL(s) (that would be Knit A-Long(s) for you non-knitting folks). I’d act like I was going to actually knit whatever it is we were supposed to be knitting and sign up for the blog and everything. I might even start on the project. A couple of times. Then I would get angry and frustrated and scream and cuss and maybe throw yarn and/or needles around the house. Then, I would frog the offending project and wind the yarn back into a ball and never speak of it again. In some cases, I would even give away the offending yarn. Because what lies at fault is clearly the yarn, not the ability (or lack thereof) of the knitter. Yarn is fickle. Not knitters. No. Nu-uh. No way. No how. No sir.
Anyway, I finally accepted the fact that I am not a team player. At least, not when it comes to KALs. I don’t like to do what everyone else is doing because it’ll be "fun". I find that KALs stress me out, make me panic and worry that my project won’t be as good as everyone else’s or I won’t finish it in time if there’s a deadline. And then what if the other knitters won’t want to play with me anymore because I’m not a finisher. I’m just a starter. Or a would-be starter? And not in the cool, athletic term of a starter. In the lame, slack-ass "I don’t finish anything" meaning of starter. That’d just suck and then I’d get all postal and shoot people. And honestly, the world really just doesn’t need to see that. Trust me.
So, even though I might even occasionally suggest a KAL, don’t ever expect it to happen. And if I try to join or start (another) one, just send me a reminder e-mail, or kick in the pants that says something like, "Hey, you! You don’t do KALs, remember? You’re too good for them!" and then I’ll be all, "Yeah! That’s right, so stick it where the sun don’t shine! I’m going to go make something cool." And then life will be all right.
*A KAL, or knit-along, is an event where knitters all over the US and/or the world knit the same project at the same time. There is usually a start date and sometimes an end date. Often times there will be a central blog where everyone can leave posts of their progress and final products and/or ask for help and usually receive it.

How about just a boob along (as mentioned in the linked post) instead of a knit along. This sounds far easier to finish (for half of the population anyway). I’ll volunteer to be an unbiased commentator on the results.
