The postcard is finished! There’ll be no walkin’ the plank today, laddies, unless ye want to, of carse!
The first picture captures the entire front of the postcard. The second one, in case you can’t figure it out, is the back. I don’t know why, but I couldn’t get a shot of the back that wasn’t fuzzy. You can see where I got a little mod podge on the cardstock, too. Whoops! And the colors are more accurate in the second picture of the front.
I ended up using poster board inbetween the knitting and the cardstock and this seems to have created a more sturdy back. If I would do anything differently, it would have been to cut straighter lines on the poster board. Of course, that would have required a straight edge that is longer than 6", which is all I could find last night (of course).
I think that next time I will be a little more confident with placing the poster board on the knitting. I will also, maybe, weave in the ends on the back next time too. That’s right, I’m telling on myself. I didn’t weave in any ends AT ALL on this thing. My reasoning was that I’d be gluing it to to paper, so what would it matter? It would be GLUED DOWN and WOULD NOT MOVE, so WHY BOTHER? I think that had I weaved in the ends, I would have been a little more confident with getting the poster board on there more to my liking. Then again, it might have ended up the same way, so who knows? Maybe I’ll find out with the next one.
I’m really happy with how sturdy the finished piece seems to be. I think it’ll hold up in the mail.
Overall, I’m really quite pleased with my first attempt and I am ready to make more! Who’s with me? ARG!
Oh right, materials used:
Yarn: I think I used Cascade cotton/tencel blend. Worsted weight. teal and a lime green. I lost the bands, so I’m not 100% sure.
Adhesive: Mod Podge
Back: white poster board, acid free cardstock

Ok, this time I’m gonna try and not post two comments that look exactly the same save one capitalized letter. Your pirate oversized postcard looks awesome. It in fact “LEWKS GEWD!” I don’t know why I was comments challenged yesterday. My apologies.
Sister, think you might be able to remember to SIGN YOUR NAME?
Neat!
(I totally wouldn’t have woven in the ends. When I started tacking the lining on my pirate hat, I just shoved all the loose ends in between the hat and the lining and sewed it up. I’m a bad, bad knitter.)
Oops, m’bad.
That is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.
