Yarn!

So, I made a few purchases this weekend. Truthfully, I made one yarn purchase and my friend made one. He bought Noro Big Kureyon. Six skeins actually. You know why? Because he wants me to make him a sweater. How could I say no? I get to knit with Noro Big Kureyon! It’s so beautiful. I couldn’t stop fondling the yarn when I got back in the car! Anyway, I was thinking about knitting Leo or the Many Sweater in the Stitch ‘n Bitch book. Either way, I’ll probably have to do some serious math to figure out the proper conversions since the pattern for Leo uses a worsted weight yarn and I believe the Manly Sweater uses a bulky weight yarn. I’m not sure about the Manly Sweater yarn weight, though. Is that right? Does anyone have any advice or can point me to a similar pattern for a chunky weight wool? I’d appreciate it! Also, the woman at the store, said that 6 skeins of Noro Big Kureyon would be enough to make a sweater for a man based on a 44″ chest measurement. K’s jacket size is a 43 regular, so I’m thinking that if I knit it I’m a little worried that I might need one more skein. I think I might call the shop and see if I can order one more skein and then they can mail it to me…I hope. I would rather have one too many than not enough. Well, I’m going to have to measure him and determine his proportions and then go from there, I think. We shall see.

Oh yeah. The yarn I got? Total indulge = Noro Lily Yarn. A lovely green shade. Again, I will post pictures this evening. I think I will make socks with this luxurious yarn. It’s a cotton/silk blend. Yum.

I finally finished the sock yesterday and cast on for its mate. I even took pictures. I was going to post them today during lunch and then realized that I left the USB cable at home so I will post pictures tonight of my yarn purchase, K’s yarn purchase and the finished sock! Happy Valentine’s Day, people!
