I’ve never knit child-size socks before, so I’m really kind of going on what I know about women-size socks and sorta feeling my way along Little Man’s socks. I think it’s really helped that I’ve been reading Knitting Rules while working on this sock. This little tutorial has also really helped out a lot.
I am this incredible walking contradiction when it comes to knitting and patterns and recipes. I want whatever I’m knitting to be original (regardless of whether or not I’ve ever done it before). But if I’ve never done it before, I want a specific pattern to Follow (but maybe make some modifications along the way so I feel like it’s truly a one-of-a-kind). However, if I’ve done it before and pretty much have it down, but need a guide in case I get stuck, I want a recipe (for all you muggles, a knitting recipe is a vague pattern that gives you much leeway in what you’re knitting).
Between the Yarn Harlot’s latest book and the tutorial, I think I’ve gotten everything I need to turn this heel. Well, as soon as I finish knitting the square. So far, I’m feeling pretty good about this sock.
However, I’ve noticed this in B’s sock and Little Man’s sock, but when I’m working on the heel, an extra stitch magically appears. Or disappears. It’s no end-of-the-world scenario, but I think it might have something to do with gnomes. Or elves. Eh, nothing a little K2Tog or M1 can’t fix, that’s for sure.
I love the macro function on my camera. Especially when I can hold the camera still.

Mmmmmmmmmm. Macro.
