I have had an on-again/off-again love affair with Steve Madden through the years. Mostly on-again. Steve comes up with amazing shoes that I love. Particularly his platforms and wedges. Comfortable shoes and relatively easy to walk in. And I know the mainstream world is starting to experience the knitting craze culture, much to most knitters’ joy. However, this is one of those instances when someone (Steve) has crossed the line. So it gives me great pain to let you know that we are currently off-again until Steve apologizes in person for this monstrosity:
Here’s a close up of the white ones, so you can see the detail better.
I mean, sure, at first you’re thinking, "Wow! Cool! Knitted shoes! Check out those cables! Wow!" But then you start thinking, "Will these felt if I wear them and it starts raining?" and "Do I really want to wear them? What if I get them dirty!" And then you start thinking, "Does Steve really expect me to buy these when he knows that I could make them myself?" Some things were clearly never meant to be. And Steve, if you’re reading this, chocolates and flowers won’t work this time. Neither will a 75% off sale on all your shoes. I cannot be with someone who thinks that these shoes are a good idea. I’m sorry it has come down to this. I warned you about this, Steve. I warned you.
Because of the great distress caused by the knitted shoes, I practiced some knitting therapy and am proud to bring you FOs!
You’ll have to excuse the zombie face. It’s a combination of staying up late to finish the scarf and the pain that Steve caused me by making and marketing those damn shoes. I am a bad knitter in that I have no idea what the yarn is other than a merino wool, acrylic and polyester blend. It’s so incredibly soft and makes me think of the muppets. I love muppets.
I may have gone yarn shopping on Satur when my sister came to visit. I may have also talked fellow knitter Ginny into going yarn shopping with me. There was a summer yarn sale going on at Knit Nouveau and we may have been there. I can neither confirm or deny our presence at this time. I can, however, tell you that the muppet yarn came from Knit Nouveau and that I might have purchased it on Satur. Along with some other yarn. And that I forgot to take pictures. D’oh!
To lessen the pain of not taking pictures of newly acquired stash, I bring to you pictures of an AFO (almost finished object):
This is the Daisy Mae bag completely knit up, but unfelted. The felting will be performed some time this week. Also, my bedspread is not that yellow. Just thought you should know.
Oh, and there was some confusion on Satur when we encountered this:
Now you can clearly see that I am standing in an aisle full of bags and purses. Yet it appears that I am wearing the largest floppy green hat ever known to man. Except that it’s really a bag. I think. I mean, it was hanging out with the bags. But it looks so much like a giant hat. I suppose it’s one of those things that has multiple uses? The world may never know.

Those shoes make the baby Jesus cry.
