Whoops!

So I totally bailed on work yesterday because, uh, well, Scott and I went furniture shopping in Atlanta at Ikea and we didn’t get back and done assembling furniture until maybe 3:00 am or so and I didn’t wake up until maybe noon yesterday so obviously work was out of the question. Obviously. But to make up for all that, I have lots of pictures. LOTS.

Dscf0335First, a little back story. I got my tax refund on Friday. Whee!! And I decided that it was finally time to upgrade on the tee vee. See that? That’s my brand new tv sitting on top of the tv cabinet with my tiny old tv in it. Obviously, that scenario wasn’t going to work and so I also rearranged my apartment this weekend, but I’ll get to that. Anyway, so the new 27" Sony Wega Trinitron tv with it’s pretty flat screen started out on top of the old tv cabinet. Then it went from there to here:Dscf0344

Which obviously is sad and not going to work. Well, we were a little concerned that the legs of the little table would collapse from underneath the weight of the ginormous tv. (Please keep in mind that my old tv, which still works by the way, is only 18".) Anyway, this prompted the need to go to Ikea. It also prompted the manic rearranging of furniture. Anyway, it didn’t occur to us to go to Ikea until Saturday evening.

Oh, speaking of Saturday evening, after a day of piddling around and doing nothing but driving around and doing random shopping, I managed to put this spread together for dinner:Dscf0340_1

And before you get all amazed at how much food I prepared and also wonder, "What in the hell is that?" Let me tell you this: The brown blob is bulgogi – a Korean seasoned meat dish that is super delicious. The dumplings are filled with pork and vegetables and you brown them in some olive oil and they are super yummy. You also dip them in soy sauce, which is what is in the little blue bowl on the tray. The black strips in the blue platter is seaweed, also known as kim in Korean. In the bowls are rice (closest to Scott’s legs), seaweed salad, cold spinach salad, shredded and candied squid and finally cold seasoned bean sprouts. Super yummy. The only thing I did was to cook the bulgogi and the dumplings. Everything else came prepared. But the point of all this is that dinner was delicious. And also, Scott is great because he cleaned up.

Anyway, Sunday we ended up going to Ikea kinda late and getting back kinda late and so I kinda didn’t go to work yesterday, but it was worth it because now my apartment looks like this:

OK, so just the corner where the tv was and my bedroom were rearranged, but I swear, it’s like living in a new apartment! See that lovely tv bench? Scott got it for me while we were at Ikea. He got a brand new leather sofa that looks smashing and of which I have no pictures. And none of that would have happened if my dad hadn’t lent us his truck. Thanks Dad!

Oh, and guess what? There was knitting. I have only artsy pictures of said knitting (and by artsy I mean, I have no idea why I can’t keep my hand steady).

I finished the sock (finally) and it lifted the hex on the hat and so now Rick’s hat is in progress. Finally.
