What Is This Thing?

I have been away for so long! Have you missed me? Hello? Is anyone there?

Chri’mas was good. The day after Chri’mas, not so good. I had to go to a funeral. Very sad. I don’t want to talk about it.

My little sis came to stay with me all last week. Much evil ensued. It was great.

I can now reveal this:

This is the scarf that Dave commissioned for his lovely Miss Kadie. She sent me an e-mail the day after Christmas. This is what it said: i LOVE my scarf! it couldn’t be better if i had picked the design and colors myself. bravo. plus, it’s a nice and tight weave which i prefer. thank you so much!

And Dave also sent me an e-mail the very same day. It said this: hey, grace. A+ on the scarf. it was a big hit. kadie loved it. the pattern was great. she said if she had asked for it that’s exactly what she would’ve asked for; different shades of the same color offset with a little black. the length was perfect too, cuz kadie likes to layer up. thanks again, grace. -dave

I was very pleased with the way this scarf turned out. I’m so happy Kadie was just as pleased, if not more!

As for Chri’mas. Scott gave me these things:

I was so very happy. I cannot even begin to tell you. The Vintage Knits? There are so many things in that book that I want to make! It is fabulous. And the Stitch ‘n Bitch Journal? Now I have one central location to keep all my knitting patterns that I come up with. How cool is that? Oh, and Space Ghost, how I love thee. We watched disc 1 right away. Nevermind that I was 4 am.

I gave Scott these things:

He was very happy. He started using the lightbox right after I opened up my presents. I was so happy that he didn’t figure out what I got him! Well, except for the legos. They were a ~~specific~~ special request. The lightbox was a big hit. Plus, he’s been bitching for ages that he needed one. I have to say, I was quite pleased with myself since I got exactly what Mr. Pickiestmanintheuniverse wanted. No small feat, I assure. At least the man knows exactly what he wants. Most of the time.

Oh, and the other sad part of my vacation was that I had to make the ugly decision to give up my dog. He got loose Wednesday night and killed a neighbor’s cat, I think. Anyway, he became a liability to my neighborhood, where there are lots of kitties running around. Other people’s pets. I could not, in good conscience, keep an animal that would kill other people’s pets. It was the toughest decision I have ever made in my life. There was a lot of crying involved. A LOT. My sister went with me to take him, which helped so much. Scott would have gone with me, but his phone wasn’t working and he couldn’t get in touch with me. Bear, you will be missed.
