Weekend Update with Pictures!

Snow Day

We had?SNOW IN 2008 for all of most of one day. Charlie was not impressed. And he is not actually going poo, he is hunched over to stay warm. I PROMISE. He pooped after I took the picture.

I spent most of the weekend spinning yarn and weighing roving with my new scale.

Purple Merino Yummy Goodness
This is actually the dark purple?yarn I finished spinning last week.

I finished the 8 ounces of light purple roving I got from Shepherd’s Corner?at SAFF this past October and I spun up some of the mill ends I got from the Sheep Shed Studio. I have no idea what the fiber is, but what I used was a creamy white, light coffee brown and a deep rich dark chocolate brown that almost looks black. I think I got somewhere around 160 yards of Navajo plied yarn of that and, um…..a lot of yards with the light purple. I forgot to count that. Well, not so much forgot to count it as was in a hurry to get it off the niddy noddy.

Yesterday was my little sister’s birthday, so we headed down to T-town to spend the afternoon with her and her companion. We had a lot of fun and I gave her this:

DSCF1541
Except it’s not really that dark. Damn the lighting in the den!

And some homemade chocolate chip cookies. The cookies are decadent and delicious. She said so. The yarn is more of my handspun?made from?roving from Shepherd’s Corner. They are my favorite, in case you haven’t noticed. Most of my roving comes from them. And I can only get their roving at SAFF. And I don’t remember the yardage, but I do remember that it was a lot and it’s probably about a DK weight. It got the Sister Squooshy Approval? and that’s really all that matters.

Oh yeah, and HRD has one leg that is appropriately proportioned to the rest of his body. I just wish I had paid better attention to the decreases when I was knitting it. I’ll?kinda be winging the second leg.

B spent a good bit of the weekend painting our bathroom. It’s so fantastic in there, I can’t even begin to tell you! It used to be this awful pee yellow color, and now it’s a lovely shade of light blue. And we got a new light fixture and it REALLY brightened up the bathroom.?Tres magnifique! I should take pictures of his handiwork and show you. It is totally blogworthy.

Unfortunately, when he wasn’t doing that, he was doing homework. School blows sometimes, but the payoff is great! I’m really proud of him for not just sticking with it, but excelling at it.

For some reason, this time when you called Branton my “companion” it sounded like I was a spinstery lesbian with a life partner. That’s all true except for the lesbian part. I am now officially old. That makes you officially way old.

Love your homespun & ya know what??? When I went to SAFF, I had just gotten my wheel & hadn’t done hardly any spinning. I had no idea what to buy in the way of roving…..I was so overwhelmed!!! What I did come home with though was several bundles of “Shepherd’s Corner” roving! I’m spinning some beautiful purple Merino that I got from them & love it, love i!!!
