In the past, I have knit socks and there was sometimes a bit of Second Sock Syndrome happening and then things would get sour and certain socks would threaten me until they or their mates were finished. Even when they were completed, they would still gloat about their "power" or whatever. Ungrateful bastards.
Then I noticed that with the exception of a pair of socks that were made from German yarn (you know how impatient those Germans are), most of the extortion and death threats and guilt trips came from socks made from a certain yarn. Lorna’s Laces Shephard sock yarn in the Amish colorway to be exact. This makes me wonder if it’s just the Lorna’s Laces sock yarn that is this way.
Now the socks for Little Man didn’t have time to try extortion as they were knit up pretty fast. And B’s one sock that is too big for him, well, I’ve not heard a peep out of it. It might be because it’s ashamed of being such an ill-fitting garment. It might be the rum. I don’t know.
What I do know, is that the new improved "second" sock for B had best fit just right or I’ll make it walk the plank. (What is up with the pirate references?) But so far, it’s been quite docile and compliant and coming along quite nicely.
A little too docile and compliant…..I don’t trust this sock one bit.
