The Ugly

After going through all my yarn and knitting paraphernalia, I did a little culling from the herd, as it were. There was some yarn that I will honestly never use in there *coughcoughacryliccoughcough* and I decided that there is no time like the present to stop living in denial of the fact that I will never use it. Ever.

The only thing I waffle on is the blanket. It’s Bernat acrylic yarn, but it is pretty soft. There’s still a small part of me that thinks I should go ahead and finish it. I’d have a baby blanket present on hand should I ever need one.

There’s a purse kit in there. It’s something I’m never going to use. It was gifted to me with the best of intentions, but I just can’t bring myself to knit it. It’s just not my bag, baby. Horrible, aren’t it?

There’s an acrylic crochet kit to make a dinosaur. I have no desire to go there. Right now. I can barely keep up with the knitting and the spinning as it is.

And then there is that small abomination of which I have no desire to speak, but it is too grave a thing to be quiet about. Muppet murder. A muggle gave me those two pelts of muppet fur and I have held them in shame and guilt for far too long. I think it’s high time I give them a proper burial. Let’s have a moment of silence for those poor brave muppets that were skinned for their pelts.

Of course, if there’s anyone out there who wants any of this stuff (minus the blanket), I’d be glad to send it your way.

  • I say definitely finish the blanket and keep for a future baby gift. I have a friend that suggested I only use acrylic as baby blankets need frequent washing and the acrylic stays soft and the mom doesn’t have to worry about any special handling.

  • Haha! I bought some muppet fur two weeks ago. You’ll be seeing it on my blog soon. I’m making my niece some winter stuff with it!

(It was on super clearance–like, a buck–and it was really soft, so I said, “what the hey?”)

I have a lot of acrylics I won’t touch, though. The baby acrylics I have, I’ll use because–duh, they will need lots of cleaning and will recieve lots of abuse. The rest I’ll probably give away eventually.

  • Gotta love the acrylic for the baby blankets. the best knitting compliment I ever got was just watching my friend use the blanket I gave her – EVERY DAY! She loves it because it’s soft for the kid and washes easily. Keep the blanket. finish the blanket!

muppet pelts? Ugh. Makes me kinda itchy just thinkin about it.
