I’m sure a lot of you have seen this and have even posted about it. But a lot of times, we have good intentions and then forget. I know I’m that way. I was reminded again today about it and made a donation. So, in turn, I’m going to remind you guys about it if you meant to do it and forgot or couldn’t make a donation, and to let those of you who don’t know about it…er, well, know about it.
The House that Yarn Built is a team sponsored home?started by Christy of the Hurricane Sock Party Swap fame.?Go over to Make It Right, listen to a message from the lovely Brad Pitt and then help.
Basically,?Christy’s premise is that if we all donated $20 (the cost of 1 skank of sock yarn) or whatever you can spare, knitters (and knitting fans) can help build a home in the lower 9th ward of New Orleans. It’s an easy way for us to help be a part of rebuilding New Orleans, which still needs LOADS of help after Katrina.
Each house costs $150,000 to build. So, if 7,500?knitters (and fans)?were to donate $20 one time, we could say that we were a part of The House that Yarn Built which in turn helped a family reclaim?their city, home, neighborhood in New Orleans.?How cool is that? Currently, the amount donated to The House that Yarn Built is $4,665. That means, $145,335 to go or 7,267 more people to donate $20 or thereabouts.
If knitters can raise gobs of money for?Knitters without Borders, surely we can also raise enough money to build one house in New Orleans, right?
Go here?and choose The House That Yarn Built and donate a little cash. You’ll be doing something good to help out your neighbor. If that’s not incentive enough, then the fact that it is a tax deductible donation should help. And also, Stash and Burn and Christy are having drawings for a lucky donor to win yarny goodness for donating. How’s that for incentive? Now go donate and help out a fellow neighbor! You’ll be glad you did.

Thank You! I actually did totally forget about this and was planning on making a donation. Off to do it now before I buy more yarn
