This is what I trimmed off the “you have mail” postcard. Even though it was felted (3 times in the wash on HOT water and once in the dryer on HIGH HEAT and yet continued to be big foot’s cousin) I still had this irrational fear that when I cut into it, it would unravel. Here’s an pretty artistic shot of the carnage. (And yes, that is Gary in the background.)
And speaking of postcards, here is the “mutating biohazard” postcard. Mutating because I made a mistake in the pattern and I couldn’t bring myself to rip back that many rows when I finally noticed my error. I also ended up mod podging the knitting and it now has a plasticy feel. Very interesting. Totally changes the whole feel for this one.
I think I’ve decided to like it. I’m still kicking myself for not taking pictures of the other ones. Well, the auction is in two weeks. I can always just walk through and take pictures of them there like the freak I am.
I imagine this is pretty much the scenario that will occur:
“Are you taking pictures of the stuff you want to bid on?”
“No, I’m just taking pictures of the stuff I made because I forgot to before I gave it to Dama and I promised my blog I would so I’ve got to keep my promise to my blog.”
And then whoever mistakenly attempted to engage me in conversation will blink rapidly in fear, panic and confusion and back away slowly and then make a run for it. Either that, or people will think I’m eccentric and so talented that no one understands me and then there will be a bidding war for my postcards. Mostly though, I think they’ll just run in panic.
I am curious to see how the postcards will be received by the public. And by public, I mean mostly people that I know or know of in a fairly artistic community. It will be interesting. I think that, again, there will mostly be confusion. That or people will just think it’s “cute.” I think I’d prefer the confusion over the cute.
And finally, I am going to share with you the pink flowers that are outside my apartment complex. I walk through these every day and they make me smile. And so far, they haven’t made me sneeze. I think they’re azaleas, but my knowledge of plants is pretty much limited to general groupings: trees, bushes, flowers, grass, vines and “Is that poison ivy?”

Yep, that’s the ubiquitous azalea. Pretty while in bloom, not so much the rest of the time. IMO!
