I’m trying to be frugal. I’m not really sure why sometimes. Because sometimes being frugal hurts. Literally.
Case in point:
Back in the day, when I was a newer newbie to knitting than I am now, I went on a needle buying binge in *gasp* Wal-mart *gasp*. I know what you’re thinking, but please, let me explain! There was no Knit Nouveau (my LYS) at the time and I was unaware of the wonders that are the bamboo needles.
Fast forward to the present. The brioche stitch scarf. I worked on it for a total of 2 hours yesterday, thankyouverymuch. However, in my frugality, I decided to use the size 5 circs that I have that are the *gasp* metal *gasp* circs I got from *gasp* Wal-mart *gasp* instead of getting some bamboo circs. Also, I would be using my Denise Interchangeables, but they are ALL being used. Don’t ask. Anyway, so the point of this rambling? It’s all about the hurt and it’s not the "hurt so good" variety either. This was plain old sucky hurting. Either I am gripping the needles too tightly, or I am gripping the needles too tightly. Either way, my pinkie and ring fingers on BOTH hands were all crampy after working on the brioche stitch scarf (BSS) after I got home from work (I actually worked on it during lunch.). The obvious solution to my problem is to go buy some bamboo size 5 circs, NOT to stop gripping the needles so tightly. Are you with me? Good.
Anyway, because my fingers were all crampy and stuff, I was unable to take pictures of the BSS. Also, it kinda hurts to type. (Not really, but I want LOTS O’ PITY.)
