I busted ass this weekend and cleaned out what is essentially a giant hallway turned bathroom downstairs in our finished basement. Why the people who lived in this house before thought that an open bathroom right off the garage was a good idea is beyond me. However, it makes for a good dyeing station. Behold.
I’ve got some yarny art to go on the walls, but I need some frames or maybe some of these to get them up.
YAY for unnecessary bathroom fixtures in a hallway in my basement!
On the opposite wall, that I did not photograph is a water closet (literally), regular closet and open bathtub with a shower curtain. Why they didn’t install a contained shower, I also don’t know why.
Anyway, so yes, once the “bathroom” turned fiber studio was up and running, I got right down to business.
Elvis makes sure nothing happens to the roving.
I’m considering this a test run.For several reasons:
- I got a hot plate to use downstairs and bought a new pot to steam my yarns in and I wasn’t sure how it’d go.
- This is unidentified mill end roving.
- I don’t have one single continuous strand(?) that is even remotely close to 4 oz. Once the roving is completely dry I’ll weigh it and then see what might be viable.
So here’s my question. Would y’all be willing to buy roving that is mill end and less than 4 oz?
