I promised myself, after Hoodie, no more sweaters. After GKI Raglan, no more sweaters. I am stuck on the sleeves of both of those sweaters. I finished one sleeve of hoodie and started the other, was doing fabulously until I realized I had dropped a stitch a gazillion rows back and had to rip the damn thing out. Well, it’s mohair and I lost count of my rows. I have a feeling it will be in my best interest to just rip it all the way back and start over. I’m not looking forward to that. Still, I want to be able to wear the damn thing. So as soon as I finish the second sock (which is in the toe decreases, thank you very much) and the latest swatch that might become a belt, I will work on the sleeve for the Hoodie. Then there will the knitting of the hood and the the assembly of the pieces. This is not too much, no? And yet, for some reason, every time I think about doing it, it just seems like SO MUCH TO DO. I think it’s the seaming that gets to me.
As far as the GKI Raglan, my increases don’t look right on the ONE sleeve I’ve started and I need to take the time to figure out what I’m doing wrong. That one is languishing on the needles because I’ve been lazy about figuring out what it is I’m doing. I will get around to it later.
Why? Because I think I am ready design my very first sweater. I have all these fabulous ideas for this sweater. Waist shaping using ribbing, tall ribbing detail at the bottom. Scott’s design on the sleeves or the body? Raglan or inset? I keep leaning towards raglan. Crew or scoop neck? Should I have ribbing around the collar? It’s so exciting thinking up all the possiblities! And the yarn! Merino/alpaca blend. What’s not to love about that? Am I sold on knitting the design in a different stitch or do I want to give it a go using fair isle? What if I alternated fair isle and relief? Well, I guess if I alternated it, it would be more like intarsia. Do I want to do that? I don’t know…..yet…..but I do know this: I want to start on it NOW!
