1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
I am a yarn snob. I prefer higher quality yarns and I LOVE natural fibers, but I am certainly not averse to unnatural fibers.
2. Do you spin? Crochet?
No.But I am sure it is only a matter of time before I’ll be doing both. I have managed to crochet a single chain, twice. However, I have not yet attempted spinning. Soon my pretties….
3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
My allergies are plant related, but I don’t care for cigarette smoke.
4. How long have you been knitting?
I’ve been knitting since December of 2004.
5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Yes. My Amazon wishlist is down on the bottom of the page on the right hand side.
6. What’s your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
I like sandalwood, jasmine, orchid, freesia, sweet pea, lemon grass, anything earthy or clean smelling. I’m not a big fan of overly flowery scents.
7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
Yes! The darker the chocolate the better. I love After Eight mints and stuff like that. I also love chewy candies: gummy bears, Trolli worms, skittles, any kind of sour chewy candy.
8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
I’m eventually going to teach myself or learn how to sew. I just have to get the sewing machine tuned up…..
9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
My music taste is pretty eclectic: Relient K, Tori Amos, Vienna Teng, Jimmy Eat World, Beck, Weezer, Keane, VHS OR BETA, Nora Jones, No Doubt, Our Lady Peace, All American Rejects to name a few…..I have iTunes on my computer so MP3s are a go. I *heart* my iPod Mini!
10. What’s your favorite color? Or–do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can’t stand?
My current favorite color fluctuates between red and purple. I like dark/vibrant colors and earthy/neutral tones. I also love green. I abhor most pastels and orange. Yellow is not a good color for me.
11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I’m a recently single (read: divorcee) gal living on my own with my precious dog, Bear – he’s a Brindle Chow Mix (Also known as Part Chow: The "Official" Alabama State Dog.) He has his own photo album on this blog.
12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
*World peace* Seriously, to eventually own my own home and to make enough money to travel abroad at least once a year. To be able to buy all the yarn I could possibly want. To be debt free. I don’t know, this changes daily.
13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
I really like Noro, Brown Sheep and Cascade so far. I do like mohair but it’s something of a love hate relationship, sometimes. I like blended yarns. I’ve liked just about every yarn I’ve knit with so far. The exceptions are listed in #14.
14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
Squeeky yarn. Not really a "fiber" but you get the idea. I’m not a huge fan of cotton, either, or yarns that split easily.
15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
My current knitting obsession is FINISHING some of the six million projects I’ve got going on. I also have a hoodie fetish. I really want to make the Hoodie in Vogue Knitting, the blue one with the lace panel front. Yum.
16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
Hhhmmmm…..all of them? I’m always looking for something new or challenging…..a better way for me to answer this is that I love texture and color ~ so my favorite items to knit are anything that involve texture and/or color. I really want to learn Fair Isle.
17. What are you knitting right now?
GKI Raglan Sweater, Hoodie, Sock, Daisy Mae Felted Bag, Brioche Scarf, Boring Baby Blankie, I Do. I think that’s all of them…..
18. What do you think about ponchos?
So five minutes ago.
19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
I prefer circular needles or larger projects and straights for small projects.
20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
Bamboo or plastic.
21. Are you a sock knitter?
Maybe. I’m currently suffering from Second Suck Sock Syndrome. But it’s also plain stockinette, that might have something to do with it. But I really want to make the Padded Footlets in the Summer IK. And I really like that socks are small and oh so portable.
22. How did you learn to knit?
I taught myself using Debbie Stollar’s Stitch ‘n Bitch.
23. How old is your oldest UFO?
Probably about a year old. In my defense, it’s the Hoodie from Stitch ‘n Bitch and I decided to make it in Kid Mohair, it’s the first sweater I ever started AND I keep lending out the book to friends so that they will learn to knit also. . . maybe I should make a copy of the pattern, huh?
24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?
My favorite animated character is probably the Pink Panther. He’s such a cool cat. Also, I love the Muppets. My favorite animal is my dog, Bear. Outside of Bear, it would be dragons – oriental dragons, specifically.
25. What is your favorite holiday?
I have two favorite holidays: Thanksgiving and New Years. I like parts of Christmas ~ namely decorating the tree.
26. Is there anything that you collect?
Just the usual suspects: Knitting related paraphernalia, movies, books, funky jewelry ~ I love dangle-y earrings and big rings, shoes, purses, totes, clutches, Keen Zero marbles.
27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
Interweave Knits and Vogue Knitting.
28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?
I want to eventually own all the Harry Potter Books. Oh, and the newest Todd McCaffrey book.There are a bunch of knitting books on my Amazon wishlist that I want too.
