This is B’s second third sock.
It was kind of a huge pain and letdown that the first sock I knit for him was, well, big enough for an elephant. So while this is the second sock, it is actually the third sock I’ve knit for him to make one pair, and this sock is the reincarnation of the elephant sock. I’d really love to measure it up against the second sock (being the first sock that actually fit him properly), but it seems to have taken a walk. We don’t know where it went. Oh well. It’ll turn up eventually. Right, B?
I love knitting socks. I love my dpns. I have recently become a Crystal Palace Bamboo DPN convert. So warm. So strong. So perfect. I’ve got quite the lovely stash of sock yarn. I have plans for all of it. These plans include Eunny Jang’s Entrelac socks. I’ve never been interested in entrelac before, but after seeing her socks, I MUST MAKE ENTRELAC SOCKS. I can’t wait for the Spring issue to come out.
In the meantime, once this little sock is finished, I’ll be starting on the Arrgh-yle socks next. I just need to get a set of size 0 Crystal Palace DPNs.
I think the thing I like about knitting socks best is that you can do pretty much anything you might think of doing with a sweater, but on a much smaller scale and they get done a lot quicker. It satisifies both my process and product needs.
For me, socks are like the macaroni and cheese of knitting. No matter what recipe you use, or what method you go about making them, in the end, you’ve always got socks (and/or mac & cheese).
Oh yeah, I learned the German Twisted Cast-On. And you know what? It’s fucking awesome. It rocks. I’ll probably never use regular old long tail cast-on again.

I told you Crystal Palace DPNs were the bomb! SO much better than Clover, well worth the extra buck or two. B’s socks look good, I’ve got to get back started on *my* B’s!
Dude, I’ve totally forgotten HOW to DO a run-of-the-mill long-tail cast on. THAT’S how much I loved the Twisted German
“At first I thought they were gay, but then it turns out they were just German.”
Celeste, I’m SO glad I wasn’t drinking anything when I read your comment. Once again my big mouth comes back to bite me on the ass…or something like that.

Or How I learned to stop worrying and love the Twisted German.
Oh, I’m going to stop myself before this goes any further…you can thank me later.
You’re welcome.
