So About the Postcards

First and foremost, let me just say that I am very glad that they are all done except for one, and it just needs a back and that is easily done in less than 5 minutes (and that’s being incredibly generous on the whole time factor thing.)

Have you ever worked on something for so long (especially long after the joy has been sucked out of it) that you just hate it or begin to doubt how well it is actually turning out? It got to be like that for me with the postcards. By the time I finished 4 out of the 5 Saturday, I wanted nothing more to do with them and I just wanted to hand them off.

Well, actually, I was at the point where I just thought they were crap, didn’t think anyone would want them and almost called Dama to tell her to forget it, that it was a bad idea. I talked to her Sunday and she came by and picked them up, told me I was an idiot for thinking that no one would want them and told me to finish the last one and get it to her by, well, tomorrow actually.

Anyway, in all my knitting angst, I never thought to take a picture of the postcards like I promised. Oops. Sorry about that.

And the ginormous felted enveloped? Well, after felting it about 3 times in the washing machine on hot water AND throwing it in the dryer on high heat, I got it to shrink from being a little over 2 ft long to being around 14″ long or so. I ended up cutting (eek!) the red border from around the envelope to shrink it down a little. That wasn’t enough. I ended up cutting about a 1.5″ section out of the center and then gluing it together with the mod podge onto the cardstock. I managed to condense it to a very dainty foot long and about 6″ wide. Such a tiny thing. I’m thinking it’ll be considered more of a novelty thing than anything else.

Oh yeah, and the biohazard sign? Well, when I was mod podging it to the cardstock, the mod podge kind of bled through the knitting and made hard spots. I hated it. HATED IT. So, in a moment of genius? sheer madness? hatred? I don’t know. Anyway, I decided to just mod podge the knitting and you know what? It kinda turned out ok. If I remember tonight, I’ll take a picture of it, but you’ll just have to excuse the crappy lighting because it’ll be, you know, night.

And in other news, I got B a new ball sack.

So we’ve been doing a bit of bowling lately (What? What were you thinking? You are such a perv, I swear.) Anyway, this has got me wanting my own bowling ball. So I checked ebay (yes, I am an ebay junkie) and found this ball and I now have this driving need to own it. Because how cool is that? It looks like a billiard ball! (Yes, I am a geek.)
