I went to Savannah for work purposes, but got to spend some time exploring downtown with my sister. Savannah is goergeous but will totally wreak havoc on your allergies. Savannah is also home to Savannah College of Art and Design and boy can you tell. We saw students on bikes carrying giant rolls of paper or huge sketch books all over the place.
Fashion in Savannah is a world of its own. Most girls we saw on bikes were in short shorts and mid-calf boots. We saw a lot of guys in skinny jeans and some unusual combinations of clothing. However, they do have some fantastic vintage clothes shops.
Also, almost all of the crosswalks talk. You push the button and it will tell you to wait and then when you can cross, it will tell you to cross AND it will tell you what street you’re crossing. And then it’ll count down the seconds until you can’t cross again. I imagine this is very handy for drunk people. And the visually impaired.
Savannah is this odd mix of salty sea town and southern charm. There were times when we would be near the river and it seemed very surreal to be in Georgia. I felt more like I was in New Orleans, especially where the roads were cobblestone.
Also, the architecture! It was all mostly gorgeous, but such a mishmash of different period types. It was both beautiful and ugly all at the same time.
And yes, I did visit a yarn shop. Why do you ask?
And as promised, historical action figures. Please note the line up. I am reminded of that Electric Company Sesame Street (per Jodi‘s correction) song: Three of these things go together. One of these things does not belong.

Verra nice pics. My husband has an action figure Jesus. With karate action!
Sesame Street.
Also: I couldn’t believe how short some of the skirts were in Savannah when I went there in the spring. In a place that gets that hot and sticky, I don’t want that much bare leg sticking to seats.
“That person goes to my school!”
Looks like more of a pleasure trip!
So, what did you buy at the yarn shop?
