Random Tuesday

Last night I got to hang out with my sister while she did some shopping at The Summit. Honestly, I?m not sure how we don?t get kicked out of respectable establishments when we?re together. We are all kinds of ridiculously silly in public. We have no shame. Seriously.

B and I gave up smoking. It happened back in February when we both came down with the flu but not really the flu within 12 hours of each other. I have to admit, the desire to smoke tends to go out the window when cigarettes suddenly taste like ass. We?ve done pretty well so far. However, with the quitting has come the unwanted ?tightening of the skin? and so we?ve started working out in the morning.

Pros

  • Exercise is good for you
  • More energy during the day
  • Skin will not be so tight
  • We have everything we need to work out at home

Cons

  • Waking up at 5 am
  • Passing out by 9:30 pm
  • Did I mention the waking up at 5 am?

This might seem like sacrilege to hardcore knitters, but as it becomes warmer, I?m more interested in learning how to sew. This might have something to do with how warm wool is and not having it in my lap keeps me cooler.

Yesterday I packed baby carrots in The Boy?s lunch. When I told him he had baby carrots in his lunch, he proceeded to inform me that he hated them. My response was the standard, they?re good for you and we need to eat more vegetables and healthy foods. His response? ?Why do we have to be so healthy all the time?? He might have whined a tiny bit. I decided to be mature about my answer: Because.

The dog needs a bath.

  • Congratulations for giving up smoking!!! Just THINK of all the yarn you can buy with the money you save!! LOL!!

    KUDOS TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My personal favorite is: “Because I am wise and all-knowing, that’s why.” lol

Great pic of you and your sis. :-)

  • My responses:

    Smoking – WAY TO GO!

Carrots – taste better with gravy (or at least that’s what MY boy tells me

Sewing – I can totally help ya

Tight Skin – SUX! (but I LOVE that description!)

  • Bob

No smoking for me so Good For You and Barron Too!!!
Did I tell you how my grandmother basically asphyxiated to death from the lung cancer. Apparently it really sucked.

Sew something complicated – like a fitted coat – as a starter project. Modify the pattern. That’ll keep you humble. It almost worked for me!

  • Wonderful pic of you & sis!!! Wish mine wasn’t thousands of miles away…..

I’m interested to know what G’s response to “because the dog needs a bath” was?

  • Good for you and B! I didn’t even know you smoked! Just think – you can buy a nice hank of yarn for the price of 2 -3 packs of cigs… I would reward myself if I were you with stash enhancement.

  • So glad to hear that you quit! And B too, that’s impressive! Working out is always good – I’ve been eating right but still need to get back to regular exercise.

  • Congrats on quitting! I’m a recovering nicotine addict, too. It’s hard. My husband has never smoked, so he just doesn’t understand the power it can have over you. I WAS trying to convince my best friend to quit (she’s been smoking FOREVER), but she has zero willpower. That and she scares me when she’s nic-fitting and I try to be the voice of reason. Eh, what are you going to do?

I’m trying to exercise more, too. This weight makes me look older than I am.
