Progressing through the List

It’s kind of weird to go back and pick up a project that has been languishing marinating in the stash for awhile. There’s a lot of memories that accompany the project: Why you started it. Where you want it to go. What size is this thing? Why do I never stick to the pattern? Why haven’t I finished this already?

Stuff like that.

Raglan Sweater

I also remembered how much I love this colorway and simultaneously do not love this yarn. I can’t say I hate it, but it’s certainly not my favorite. It’s Noro Kureyon and it’s full of VM and it’s on the scratchy side. I am wondering if it’ll soften up with a good soak, but I have no idea. Yet.

I started this sucker in February of 2005. It’s officially passed the 2 year mark. Damn. Well, I might just make it my goal to finish it by the end of the month. I don’t think that’s unreasonable.

Raglan Sweater
this sweater has been cat tested and approved

This sweater originally started out for a guy friend, but since we’re not really friends anymore, I decided to finish it and keep it for myself. Even though it’s a men’s size medium or thereabouts. I would give it to B, but he’s not a sweater kind of a guy.

Though, when I was working on this last night, he informed me that while this sweater wasn’t his thing, he would be down with an Arrgyle cardigan. Either that or a Cheap Trick Sweater, but he has yet to show me what that looks like. I guess I better add that to my list…once he picks one.

The Boy was all, “I’d wear a sweater you made!” in hopes of getting this one, but it’s a little big for him yet.?

I think I’ll still plan on keeping it for myself. For now.

You’re showing your blog layout ADD again.

  • HI CHLOE!!!

I used Noro Kureyon for a Kitty Pi and it felted up to be THE SOFTEST WOOL EVER!!! I don’t know what it would do with a gentle soak, but I bet on good things.

and I just realized that the link to my info on your blog goes to my old blog. I fixed it.

  • I’ve got one of those almost-finished sweaters sitting upstairs. I started it back before I knew what “good” wool was and this was most definitely crap wool. I keep telling myself I should finish it. But I won’t. Ick.

  • I have such a love/hate relationship with Noro – right now I’m on the loving side, the last few buys have been so nice and basically VM free. But watch out because next week I’ll be cursing the darn stuff again. I so love the colors though, and yours are just making me swoon with giggly delight. The Kureyon does soften up nicely after a dip or two.

Now that arrgyle would be such a fun knit! and look wonderful on a manly-man sweater.

  • I can’t WAIT to see what a Cheap Trick sweater turns out to be.

I do love the Noro and the little bits of VM. Hate the knots though. And it doesn’t frog very well. I bet I’ve knitted up 20 balls of the stuff though. Yum! And have you used the Cash Iroha? nice!

  • What’s VM? Is it like VD?

  • You definitely have come too far to leave this abandoned any longer!!! Too, if it’s been cat tested & approved, it has to be one hell of a sweater!!! Ya know, cats don’t sign off on just ANY knit object ………………LOL

  • Cat tested? Are you testing on animals?! Because that’s not cool, I don’t care HOW long the color repeats are.
