The original plan with the sleeve of Tubey was to knit it in the round using two circular needles. I had never done this before and being that I was in pain all last week, the pain induced me to believe that I could master this technique with no prior knowledge of exactly how it works. Guess what? I could not. So I went out and bought some size 8 dpns at the Hobby Lobby and went to work on my sleeve.
Now, given my state, I thought that maybe I was knitting a little tighter than normal because my stitches seemed smaller, so I wrote it off and didn’t think too much about it. (This would be step one of denial.)
Well, yesterday I found this great tutorial on knitting in the round with two circular needles and gave it a go last night. While I was knitting from the dpns to the circular needles, I realized the horrible truth. I hadn’t been knitting tighter with the dpns. The dpns were at least one needle size smaller than the circulars. DAMNIT! I knit for a few rows using my new found technique (which I love, by the way) and kept hoping that it would all even itself out (This is step two of denial.) It didn’t happen.
I am going to have to accept that I need to rip back the entire fucking sleeve and start over.
DAMNIT!
*Le sigh*

What…you mean gauge doesn’t automagically fix itself?
At least it’s “just” a sleeve and not the whole sweater.
Look at it this way; you’ll get more time doing something (new technique) that you love to do.
Oh yeah I almost forgot, (. )( .)
