More Dangers of Knitting

I have been comissioned by The Little Man to make him socks and mittens. He was very specific about these socks and mittens. Blue and orange, as in Auburn blue and orange. And with an "A" on the socks. But he was ok with black mittens.

The request came about after seeing The Longest Scarf In The World and the Pirate Sock. He even asked to watch me knit the PS. Then he asked if he could try knitting. He gave it a shot, but decided it was a little too complicated. He’ll come around.

However, I think I might be in trouble. I seriously doubt I can knit them as fast as he’ll want them. Also, there’s a possibility that he’ll mention it to his cousin and then she’ll want socks and mittens too. I’m hoping that doesn’t happen. Not because I wouldn’t be willing, but because then I’d have two 6 year olds wanting knitted goods and 6 year olds are not known for their patience.

We measured his feet last night so now all I need to do is figure out how much yarn to buy to make the socks and mittens. Even though he said he was ok with black mittens, I’m thinking matching would be nicer. And if I go a little crazy with it, there could even be a hat and a scarf in the mix, because, well, why the hell not?

I’ll keep you posted.

  • Hey, if you’re buying the yarn for the socks and mittens anyway…. Drew wants knitted socks, hat, mittens, gloves, sweater and PANTS. Yes, pants. And he wants them all to be green.

Would you knit me a car cover; for my Chevy Suburban? I’d like it to have a bare breasted Anne Bonny on the hood, just for flair. Can I have matching mittens too?
