Sunday was my Aunt B’s birthday, so my sis and I headed down to Montevallo to celebrate with our extended family. My Aunt’s family tends to run to large families. Aunt B had 4 kids. Her kids all have pretty big families. Each kid had 2 or 3 kids a piece. And now one of Aunt B’s kids has grandkids. It just spirals out of control. Anyway, suffice to say, there were lots of people that were family and then there were Aunt B’s friends coming in and out. It was good fun.
Aunt B told me how much she loved the socks that I made for her and that they went really well with her blue izod track suits. But she has a pink track suit and now needs pink socks to go with her pink track suit. She wanted to know how much I would charge for a pair of socks! The horror! I would never make FAMILY pay for socks. Well, I take that back. I would NEVER let AUNT B pay for a pair of socks. Anyway, she offered to pay for the yarn and I told her not to worry about it.
I cruised ebay for some pink sock yarn and came across some german self-patterning sock yarn that I decided would be perfect for Aunt B. I mean, there is something inherently wrong with plain colored socks. Plus, if she has several pink track suits in different shades, she’ll have a pair of socks that will go with these many different track suits. It’s cool. Also, for those of you who are not up to speed, Aunt B has a stroke awhile back and is now confined to a wheelchair. The track suits are apparently very comfy and if socks make her happy, then it’s socks she gets. Despite the fact that every pair (ahem, all 2 pairs) of socks I’ve ever made have threatened my well-being at one time or another. But I’d do anything for my Aunt B, so another pair of socks it is. Oh yeah, and that is NOT the sock that I HAVE NOT STARTED. That is just the picture from the auction on ebay. I don’t even have the yarn yet.
And totally unrelated to my family, per se, but totally related to how I am clumsy and an idiot, I present you this:
Yeah, I uh, walk by this tree EVERYDAY and one of the limbs sticks out about two feet down the sidewalk. The other day, I was walking my neighbor’s dog and her friend’s dog and I sort of, um, RAN INTO THE BRANCH. The one that I walk by every day? Yeah, that one. Idiot. Well, in my defense, it was dark outside. Of course, that’s all I got. I wasn’t looking where I was going. le sigh.
So to make it better, I got these:
I feel better already.
