I spent the better part of the afternoon and evening yesterday working on the Honeymoon Cami. Let me just say that the Cascade Sierra is an absolute dream to knit with! I love the way it feels in my hand and the cami is knitting up pretty quickly. I haven’t had to rip anything back yet. It helps when you pay attention to the pattern. ![]()
I’m really excited with the way its going. I’m definitely going to have to block it so the twisted eyelet ribbing at the bottom shows up better, but I’m ok with that. ![]()
Sweater for K
I’ve finally decided that I’m going to knit the Men’s Raglan Sweater from the Last Minute Knitted Gifts book. However, I will be altering that pattern just a bit. It’s knitted as a zippered sweater (I mean, really, that’s a cardigan, a male cardigan, but whatever) but I’m going to alter the pattern to knit it as a pullover because K doesn’t want the zipper and I like that pattern the best of all the patterns I’ve looked at. I also want to knit it in the round instead of in pieces. Oh, and it will have a roll neck, but I think and really hope that that will be the least difficult to achieve. It shouldn’t be too hard, should it? I’m more concerned with altering the pattern to knit it in the round. I’m going to use a different needle size than what the pattern calls for too. Maybe. Probably. Yeah.
Anyway, I decided on the Men’s Raglan Sweater because it looks like something he would wear. That’s what’s important. It’s also a pattern that I’m hoping will show off the Big Kureyon really well (K4, P4 rib). Now, if I can ever remember my tape measure, I’m going to measure him so I know what size to make him! I’m thinking either small or medium, but I won’t know til I can measure his chest and his arms. I’d hate to knit him monkey arms on his sweater!
Oh, and I decided to call and order two more skeins of the Big Kureyon just in case 6 skeins weren’t enough, which I’m worried they won’t be. Of course, if it turns out I didn’t need the two extra skeins, that means I can make something for me with the extra yarn. Yay!
I was just glad that they had two more skeins from the same dye lot. They’ll be shipping them to me tomorrow. Woo hoo!
Oh yeah, and if anyone ever overcome with an overwhelming urge to buy me something (my birthday isn’t until July, but a girl can dream big!), I desparately need a yarn swift! ![]()
