Look at this:
Can you believe somebody threw out this futon frame? I mean, the only thing wrong with it is that it’s missing a slat and the frame needs to be tightened up a bit. It sat outside across from my apartments for two days. Two days! On day two, I decided it needed a home. More specifically, it needed to be in my home. I’m pretty sure my dad can help me make a new slat, and my friend Janet informed me that she has a black full futon mattress that I can have. She’s just giving it to me! Score! And, she’s going to bring it to me when I move into the new place! Woo hoo! Double score!
Look, here’s a picture of both of my futons checking each other out. I think they’re going to get along just fine.
In related news, somebody threw out a metal cabinet that has been painted red. I watched them put it out on the street yesterday when I was walking Bear. If it’s there this afternoon, guess where it’s going to live! That’s right Casa de g.RACE.
Here’s the irony in picking up other people’s trash and turning it into my treasure. I’m moving in…hmmm….let’s see, how many days? Oh, right, 21 days. 3 weeks. Actually, a little sooner than that if I can work it out. And of course, since I’ve decided to move, I’m finding all kinds of cool things that I suddenly NEED to have.
Well, truth be told, I really do need a little bit more furniture. Especially shelving. And that is what the cabinet is. Enclosed shelves. I’m thinking it will either become home to my knitting or a "shoe closet." We’ll see. Now, if someone would just throw out a killer coffee table….
