In which I continue to talk about a sock I still refuse to show you

I finally sat down with the sock pattern and we had a long talk about my expectations in this relationship. What I wanted to get out of it. What it wanted from the relationship. I won?t lie. It got ugly for a little while and there was some screaming and shouting. Maybe even some crying and a little dash of pleading. There was one point when I was sure we just weren?t going to make it and we?d have to go our separate ways. But in end, it all worked out.

We finally came to an agreement (i.e. I finally got my way) and the sock pattern did what I wanted. We?re getting along much better now and we?re expecting a sock any day now. Maybe even twins! Keep your fingers crossed that it?s smooth sailing from here on out.

And now I ask you guys a question. For those of you who love the toe-up method, what is your favorite heel method? And why?

  • Afterthought. Because there is no thinking. Until after, duh.

  • short row. because it is fast and easy.

  • I love the one wendy knits puts in her patterns – it’s one with a gusset and requires no picking up of stitches. I’ll do anything not to pick up a stitch :)

    Found an example

  • Short row, with a little extra bit in the middle. Like this.

How it go: Do half of a short row heel (say until you have 10 unworked stitches in the middle), then start picking up the wraps as you do, until you have five wrapped-but-un-picked-up sts on either side, then start short rowing AGAIN until you have 10 unworked stitches in the middle again, and then work the wrapped stitches back.

I have had several glasses of wine. it’s entirely possibel none of that made any sense.

Congrats on showing the sock who’s boss. You win!
