In Which I Brag. A Lot.

MuppetscarfFriday night was the opening of Zan’s Urban Antiques, where my knitting debuted. The pictures from Friday night are blurry because I was having trouble holding still. Know why? I SOLD A SCARF! And not just any scarf. I sold this scarf. The lovely Muppet Scarf that was renamed "Disco Nights". The green in the scarf matched the green in the jacked of the woman who bought it. I was absolutely thrilled. A lot of people admired my things and a couple of people tried on the hats, but she actually bought something. WOO HOO! Opening night, too!

Knitting This is the little wall on which all my knitting was displayed. I took the picture AFTER the scarf had sold. This was at the end of the night. I actually helped Suzanne out with the shop that night. Keeping the place tidy and doing my best to help anyone who needed it. Mostly, I just felt awkward and stilted and HUNGRY. SO HUNGRY. But, it went really well. Suzanne did great business and a LOT of people came through the shop. It was awesome.

A lot of friends came by the shop as well. We were kinda partying a little bit afterwards.

Saturday was all about Scott. We went to Waverly, AL, which is right outside of Auburn. Or right before Auburn, if you go the way we go. There is a company down there called Standard Deluxe that is owned by Scott and Francis Peek. They do silk screen shirts, posters, graphic design and things of that nature. They’ve done a lot of printing for some big name bands and organizations and stuff. Check out their site. It’s neat. They also opened up the High Corner Co-Op.

High-Corner Co-Op [is] a variety store in downtown Waverly. Scott and Francis Peek chose a small, quaint building near the SD Shop that for the past 20 years had been the headquarters for a mule-drawn logging company. The High-Corner Co-Op not only serves as a retail outlet for Standard Deluxe T-Shirts and Posters but also for Goods and Crafts made by locals and regional artists and artisans such as pottery, paintings, photography, local food products, antiques, cards, and gifts.

I guess my Scott would be considered a regional artist, since Waverly is outside of Birmingham.

They made him a nifty little name plaque. It looked exceptionally cool being surrounded by his art. Don’t believe me? See for yourself:

I am so proud of him for this showing. I am also so proud and happy for him for having his artwork up at La Reunion Coffee in Forest Park and for the fact that his artwork will be hanging in Bare Hands Gallery sometime this week for Shine 2005.

Have I mentioned that Scott is an amazing artist? Because he is. Unfortunately, my pictures don’t do him or his artwork justice. But don’t take my word for it. Go see for yourself. And buy something!
