In Which I am Overly Infatuated with My Yarn

Last night after spending a little more time getting closer to saving Princess Peach, I swatched. And then I photographed my swatch like it was a supermodel. Behold:

I think you would have done the same thing, yes? And just for the record, I have always maintained that I hate pastels. However, apparently I am willing to suspend such hate when I make the pastel colors. Somehow, this makes it different and all right and even beautiful.

See?

I think I might be in love.

I knit this swatch on size 3 needles and 20 stitches across. Gauge? Um, that would be … I don’t know. It didn’t occur to me to check because I was too busy making out with my new yarn.

I think I’d like to make a lacey scarf or hat with this yarn.?Suggestions are always welcome! I believe I have around 178 yds of this yummy goodness.

  • Oh my! I feel the love :) The colors are great and I’m really digging the purple. Being a pastel hater myself I’m felling a little odd all of the sudden.

    That’s some beautiful spinning!

  • Oooh, purty! I had 85 yards of a handspun camel/silk that I turned into a simple yo/k2tog type thing for a friend. Came out about 4.5 feet long and she loved it.

I love the shading on that.

  • Don’t hate the pastels!

  • Wow that’s even better than I already thought it would be!!!! I think a hat would show off the color gradiations better than something lacy. And if you get to work quick you could have it finished before it gets up to 70 again. And by quick I mean: do it now and have it done by lunch. ha ha

  • Oh wow. That turned out gorgeous! I agree with Keri…lace won’t show off the merging colors as well.

  • I don’t like pastels either unless it’s a solid color but that is gorgeous. I’d say do a hat.

  • Bob

Nice nipple cozy you got there. You should make another.

  • Your colorway is so saturated and beefy, I’d hesitate to classify it as “pastel”. (But I like pastels.)

What about Jared Flood’s Koolhaas hat? Or Grumperina’s Odessa hat? Too bad babies don’t care about yarn, you could make that baby bonnet in Last Minute Knitted Gifts. It’d be GORGEOUS in your yarn. (I think I’ve even got enough Rowan Kid Classic in a couple of yummy colors to make the edging with.)

  • Beautiful and it doesn’t look that pastel.
