No seriously. I totally rock. So not only did I get a drum carder today, I also got a work table at an estate sale and transformed it from ugly to awesome.
I have to say though, I could totally kick myself for forgetting to get an honest to goodness before picture. Still, I think you can see for yourself just how much of a transformation this table went through today.
Here, I present to you a picture of the table after I had cleaned and spray painted the metal base. You can see the putty color it was on the bottom of the feet (at the top).
And here it is flipped over before I put metallic contact paper on it. You can see another spot of putty that was immediately remedied after I took this picture.
And here we have it completely red and covered in metallic contact paper. I got a little stupid with it hence the multiple overlaps, but I still really like it.
And finally, here it is with all the decals and in its new home!
And from the side view (always more slimming):
I’m ready for my close up, dahling:
And finally, with the drum carder & chair. It is complete!
Ok, one more. I just love it so much!
I totally got the idea to fix up the table from reading design*sponge before & after posts. I really love some of the stuff on that website and I’m grateful for the inspiration.
So here’s the breakdown.
work table: $15
2 cans of spray paint: $10
3 rolls of contact paper $21
decals: $27
Total: $73
The decals were pretty expensive, but I really love the way the table turned out so overall, I think they were a worthwhile investment. I actually didn’t use 2 whole cans of spray paint either. More like one whole can and a dash of the second. I have another project in mind to use up the rest of the spray paint.
All in all, though, I really could not be happier with how this table turned out. Now that I finished the table, I have somewhere to mount my drum carder (heh, I said mount) as evidenced by the pictures so NOW I can finally card some bats. Tomorrow.

Awesome! I love the decals!
Is that a Louet carder?
Neat!
@Bob – Thanks Bob!
Nice!
Very, very cool! I love refurbing old furniture!
Nothing like having your own one-of-a-kind piece of furniture that will have everyone asking you “where did you get this?!?!”!
Great job! It looks like it was made for the drum carder, no?
You do rock. I suggest, that if that chair doesn’t match anything else, you spray it red too.
Awesome! Great job!
This is quite a transformation! I love the red!
