I Can Only Shake My Head and Wonder

Imagine this:

It?s around 7:00 in the morning and you?re in the kitchen making your lunch for the day. You look in the living room to see the 8 year old hogging the cat condo toy and the cat sitting at the base of the condo staring forlornly at her paradise being attacked by a human. The following conversation ensues:

You: You do know that?s the *cat* condo, right? For the cat?

8 year old: Yeah, but I like cat toys too!

You: I see that, but it?s not for you. It?s for the cat.

8 YO: But it?s just so much fuuun!

You: I understand, but you?re going to have to stop playing with it. The cat won?t go near her sanctuary because you?re playing with it and she doesn?t trust you.

8 YO [to the cat]: You don?t trust me?!?!?!!!

You: Nope. And I don?t think I can blame her with the way you like to ambush her and carry her around the house against her will.

8 YO [somewhat sheepishly]: Yeeeeaaaahhhhhh?

The 8 year old finally stops playing with the cat toy attached to the condo and puts some space between him and the condo. The cat gives him a final suspicious look and then races to the top of the condo to get into her tube of safety. The 8 year old stares forlornly at the cat condo while the cat stretches out luxuriously in her paradise.

Surely this doesn?t only happen to me?
