Houston, We Have Lift-off

You know, I didn’t think it mattered that I was left-handed when it came to spinning. I have an upright wheel and it just hasn’t been an issue. Not even with playing…until now. Last night I decided to give the Navajo plying a try. Prior to, I watched this video over and over and over until I thought I had it down. Once I started plying, I found that I, in fact, did not have it down. At. All. I made it work, I had some seriously, uh, modified action going on, but it was creating a ply that was a little too loose. What the fuck? What was wrong with me?

I have no idea. If I knew that, I’d probably have a lot more things in order, but whatever. Details. Anyway, I finally got it right, found my rhythm and was working it. I find that I do this thumb flick thing with my forward hand right before I pull the yarn through the loop, but it seems to help me so I’m going with it. I’m really digging the Navajo plying.

B feigned disinterest from the couch. Of course, his illusion of disinterest was completely shattered when he came over to the wheel to see how the yarn was turning out, and also to see how Navajo plying was done. At one point I said something about wanting a tensioned lazy kate, and he thinks he has an idea of how to turn the jumbo lazy kate into a tensioned one.? Disinterest. Bah.

I didn’t get through the whole bobbin last night, so I’ll hopefully finish it out tonight. I decided to leave you in complete suspense until I’ve got the whole bobbin plied and set. So it’ll probably be Thursday or Friday before you get to see the finished product. Because I’m mean like that.
