I live in Alabama for two reasons. One, I cannot for the life of me leave this state no matter how many plans I make or how hard I try. Apparently the fates do not see it fit for me to live elsewhere. And two, Alabama is in the SOUTH. Where it is NOT SUPPOSED TO GET COLD.
So, this morning, because it was all of 16 degrees when I left the house, I bundled the hell up. Unfortunately, this meant putting on gloves. Store bought gloves. I know! I am properly ashamed. After I lost my last pair of Fetching fingerless gloves (Ravelry link), I’ve never made another pair of mittens or fingerless gloves. The sad part? I’ve got the yarn to make some. I just haven’t found the “perfect pattern.” Why I am looking for this holy grail, I have no idea. I need to just suck it up and pick one of the 400 patterns I’ve favorited on Ravelry and just knit them. I think it’s eeny-meeny-miney-moe time.
Anyway, B? was kissing me goodbye this morning and saw my red store bought gloves on my hands and stared at them a little bewildered.
B: Are those store bought?
Me: Yeah (hangs head in shame)
B: Poor baby. You need to make you some real gloves.
And that is just one of the reasons why I love him. He totally gets me.

Haha!!! Yeah – I’m totally with ya sista. It was ZERO here this morning – ZERO!!!!!!!!! Uhhhh…..hello…….this is the South!
Our pond is completely frozen over!!!
I’m working on a pair of Fetching mitts right now, actually. Even Vulcan’s butt looks cold. I’m ready for Spring.
It’s when you start thinking “I can totally have some ready for work tomorrow” that you really start getting into trouble. And hell yeah it’s cold as balls out. WTF.
School was closed the last 2 days because of -45 degree wind chills and the actual temp being -25. We are so happy we are above zero this week. But then again, that is what I get for living in MN. Keep strong Grace.

Tomorrow it’s gonna be 72 degrees. Overnight lows are like 41 degrees for the next few days. And this is the Bay Area, not LA.
Move to Redwood City.
@Bob – Clearly I am living in the wrong part of the country.
