[RANT]
Today has been a monday like no other. This has been the ultimate Monday of Mondays. You know why? Some asshole has stolen my identity online. That’s why. There are a million ways this could have happened. But how is irrelevant at this point since its already happened.
I greatly appreciate the internet and the ability to pay bills and check balances on my checking account. Today more so than any other day. I hope you never have to experience the horror of seeing hundreds of your hard earned dollars being spent by someone else and being powerless to do anything about it. It’s the worst feeling in the world.
Though, anyone who knows me know that I am not one to sit idly by while someone tries to fuck me over. No siree. I contacted every vendor I could that I could make heads or tails of and told them what happened, and since most of the charges were still pending, I got them cancelled. But not all of them. I’m just thankful that it’s the big ones that were cancelled.
I’ve alerted all the proper authorities and put out a fraud alert. I called the police and filed a police report. I wouldn’t have done that, though, if B hadn’t told me to do so. It’s a good thing to, just to have it on record. Especially since my bank was closed today in observance of Columbus Day. I wonder if you can even imagine my frustration at that. ESPECIALLY since the fraud department wasn’t even available. They’ll get my two cents about that tomorrow.
And it wasn’t just my bank account and check card that they got a hold of, either. They hacked my primary e-mail address and ebay account too. I think that at this point I’ve done everything I can to try to contain it until I can get to the bank in the morning. I sure as hell hope so.
The bastards even managed to change my password on my typepad account. But let me tell you something. Six Apart is the bomb. They are awesome. I sent them an e-mail letting them know what happened and they reset my password so I could get in and change it. Which is why I’m able to post this now. Did I mention that they are awesome? Because they are.
I think I would be going even crazier if I didn’t have this outlet and they nearly stole that from me too. I wish I could get a hold of whoever did this and kick the ever living shit out of them.

Holy crap. I hope they find the asshole and tear him a new one. Geez.
Oh noes! Your bank should have a fraud protection program, so you should not be responsible for ANY of the fraudulent charges. If they don’t offer this to you (like 90% of banks do nowadays), let them know you’re going to speak with the Better Business Bureau and your state’s Attorney General’s office. That might get them to offer it to you.
what the “f”????? That’s ridiculous!! I cannot believe that happened!!! Let me know what your bank says today…..Erin is right…they should offer Fraud Protection. That happened to me a few years back (not to the degree of what you have) and the bank totally took care of me. What a punk…..i’m speechless.

This might be a good time to call a lawyer. When I need something VERY IMPORTANT done that I have never had a chance to do (like surgery) I call a professional that specializes in what I need.
You’ll probably not find the fucker(s) that did this, but at the least you will get your stuff back in order.
