Feeling the LYS Love OR On Fabulous Weekend

So it turned out that Friday was indeed a TGIF Friday. I got to spend all day Saturday with my sister. We did some knitting. We visited the LYS in Tuscaloosa: Serendipity Needleworks. I got my sister her belated birthday present. I broke down and bought a tabletop yarn swift. I love it. LOVE IT, I tell you. (more about this later) Also, there will be a sale next weekend. I feel another trip to Tuscaloosa coming on.

We went to Cobblestone Cafe for lunch. Fabulous little cafe. A must visit and eat. Excellent food. For dessert, get the big cookie. Warmed up chocolate chip cookie, the size of a dinner plate that melts in your mouth with vanilla ice cream piled on top and chocolate syrup liberally applied and topped with a strawberry. YUM. Oh, right, before dessert, we had grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato tortellini soup. EXCELLENT. The soup was to die for and there were 2, maybe 3 different cheeses in the sandwich. It was very good.

So, back to my yarn swift. I believe we will call her Olivia. She is fabulous. When I got home Saturday night, I proceeded to wind 11 hanks of yarn into 11 wonderful round balls of yarn. I wound all of the Big Kureyon, one of the 2 hanks/skeins of Lily and the last 2 hanks/skeins of Cascade Sierra. I was in winding heaven. I really don’t even know if I’ll want to get a ball winder for a little while. I was thrilled. Plus, going back to earlier in the day, it was great just to hang out with my sis. I do have pictures and will post them later. I didn’t have time to get them uploaded this morning.

Oh, and the best news possible, not only am I making great progress on Hoodie. I am about half way done with the front (really more than half way done), but I finally got to measure K last night AND start on his Raglan Sweater. I cast on for it with 10.5 size needles instead of 9, but I think I’ve decided now that I would rather do it with size 9s. So, I will start over tonight, but I’m still so excited about getting to start! I can’t wait to see how this yarn knits up with the stripes and all. This is my first experience with 100% wool yarn so I’m looking forward to the experience.

Oh, and you know how I was complaining about stockinette the other day? I take it back. Hoodie is all stockinette, basically, and I’m loving it. Of course, the mohair is so beautiful with its subtle varigations in the colors that I am loving it. You’ll see what I mean when I post pictures. TONIGHT. I am definitely feeling the for my knitting right now. Happy Monday. Happy knitting!
