I have really come to love this city called Birmingham (aka Armpit of the South). Not necessarily for the town itself, but more for the people who I have gotten to know and can call my friends.
Yesterday after work I was sitting outside La Reunion with my friend DJ enjoying a toasty beverage in the heat (I never claimed to be right in the head) and chatting about everything under the sun (literally and figuratively) when my friend Lauren Antia**, who is a terrific artist and who gave me this, drove by and honked at us. I waved hello and DJ and I continued on in our conversation. I believe we were discussing what actually constituted as evil versus what is just good mean fun with just a touch of lurve (It’s a recurring theme with me).
A few minutes later Lauren drove by again and honked. When I looked up, she was waving her artwork at me out the window. I squealed like a school girl and bounced in my seat and waved back. Hi! I’m 5!
I love Lauren’s art because it’s cute and happy and always makes me smile. Also, it’s not huge. I’m not sure what the actual dimensions are of this particular piece, but it is small enough to hold with one hand and wave it out the window at people sitting at tables drinking coffee outside coffee shops.
I can now say that I’ve been the happy "victim" of a drive by arting. That is why I love this town.
Lauren currently has some artwork at Donna Van Gogh’s in Atlanta, GA. Go check it out!
*Drive by Arting is a term coined by Lauren also. She’s not just a brilliant artist, she’s smart and witty to boot!
**Also, Lauren is responsible for my current banner. She’s just awesome.

You are too cute, but I BEG to differ…Columbia IS THE armpit of the South.
Love ya!
