Pretend like the lovely box in this picture is not open. I, uh *cough*, uh, might have sorta ripped into this package from my no-longer-secret-pal Ailsa before it occurred to me to take pictures. Be glad I remembered to take pictures. It came in the mail yesterday. I LOVE this box! I think I might keep it because I love the design and the color.
Oh, what’s that? You want to know what was in the box? I suppose I could show you, but don’t expect me to share. I’m going to be incredibly greedy with all this loot!
Chenille yarn. I have no idea what I will make with this yarn, but I’m thinking maybe something for the couch. I don’t know. Love the color!
This is a lovely little purse kit from Moggy and Me.
I will post pictures of the purse once I knit it.
Of course, there is no telling when that will be. I’ll tell you why a little later in this post.
Some lovely little raspberry candies wrapped up in this paper.
Unwrapped (lovingly by moi), to reaveal the package that was inside. I love the paper the box of candies was wrapped in and I’ve saved it as well. I’m a freak, I know.
According to Ailsa, Wollongong City is the place to visit when on a beer tour in Australia. I have to say, that in all my 27 years, I have never owned a beer cozy before. Now I own one, and not just any beer cozy either. An Australian beer cozy. How cool is that? I like that the mouse pad matches the beer cozy. Computers and beer ~ a lovely combination. Really.
I have heard good things from Ailsa about Vegemite. Everyone here (in Alabama) that knows about Vegemite makes a funny face when I mention it. You know the face, like they’ve just smelled or eaten something horrible. I am going to give it the benefit of the doubt and give it a go. Though honestly, I love the packaging, so if I don’t like the way it tastes, I still have a cool jar.
Last, but NEVER least are all the chocolates. Tim Tams (they are delicious, by the way, and NO I haven’t eaten the whole package of cookies biscuits……yet.) Violet Crumble ~ honey candy covered in chocolate (very yummy… I ate half of it yesterday and finished it for breakfast this morning). Cherry Ripe ~ coconut and cherry filling covered in dark chocolate (I’m saving this for last). Caramel Koala ~ chocolate covered caramel.
Ailsa, you are the best!
Oh yes, the reason why I won’t start on the purse kit immediately is what I am about to show you. I am shaming myself on my own knitting weblog in order to finish this sweater. If I don’t finish this thing, it will be the SECOND winter IN A ROW that I could have worn this damn thing and didn’t because I apparently have issues with finishing sweaters. Behold what should be Hoodie from Stitch ‘n Bitch:
- Front: COMPLETED
- Back: COMPLETED
- 2 Sleeves: 1 COMPLETED. 1 started but still INCOMPLETE.
- Hood: INCOMPLETE.
Now honestly, finishing the sleeve and knitting the hood should not take very long at all. Why have I procrastinated on finishing this thing? I love watching the damn thing knit up and see how the varigations show up. What am I waiting for, armageddon? Apparently. The only thing I can think of is this: it is hot and the sweater is mohair and having it tucked away in a cabinet results in "out of sight, out of mind" syndrome. Well, regardless, when I get back from San Diego I will finish this thing.
Oh, right, I’ll be gone from Thursday through Monday. I’ll have a previously written time-release post for Thursday, but won’t guarantee anything for Friday or Monday. You might just have to wait until Tuesday before you hear from me again. Also, if anyone who reads this blog knows about yarn shops in San Diego that are close to the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel, let me know about them! I don’t have much time to get out and about, but I will have a little bit of time on Friday and I want to use my time wisely!

Ohh – I am glad you like my kit – Ailsa thought this was just the thing for you. You can always email me your finished bag and I wll pop it up on my blog for all to see
Oh you funny thing. I laughed my head off with the term beer ‘cozy’. Like an ipod ‘cozy’.
In Australia it’s called a stubby cooler. That’s because in Australia the small beer bottles are called stubbies.
So I guess that’s all you need – a jar of vegemite and a stubby cooler. You’re officially Australian now.
Glad you like the stuff. xxx
She’s a doll that Ailsa!! I’m looking forward to seeing the bag all knitted up!
