Converting Them One at a Time

Last night we had our bi-weekly gathering of crafters (aka Stitch ‘n Bitch) at La Reunion. We had our largest group so far last night. It might even be alleged that we took over the coffee shop. I can neither confirm not deny these allegations at this time. What I can do is show you incriminating photos.

We had a few (2) late comers, and I didn’t get their pictures and then two girls bailed on us last night, but that’s ok. Sometimes life gets in the way of knitting. We don’t like it, but we understand. We even had two people come all the way from Tuscaloosa (middle picture: wide eyed freak=little sis; girl with coffee cup=Kadie.) It was super fabulous.

I had a monumental moment last night. I taught someone how to cast on and to knit. I was thrilled that I was able to convert teach someone to knit. Specifically, I taught Elizabeth (she’s in the last picture wearing the blue shirt) how to cast on and knit. I suprised myself by being able to show her how to knit using the English method. This was quite suprising to me since I am a continental knitter. I think it’s important that someone have more than one option of how to knit when they are learning. You should do what feels most natural to you, and if you only teach one style of knitting, you limit the new knitter. Especially if they don’t find your method of knitting to be comfortable. I was glad that I could give her the option of two different knitting methods. And, I’ll have you know, she preferred continental knitting.

Ginny’s friend Keith came by with his super cute puppy, Gowan. I was too busy getting some puppy love to take pictures of him. Some people see babies and want children. I see puppies and want dogs. I want a puppy! *sigh*
