Bye Bye Birdie

So, there was a spider in the door frame of our front door, so I had been avoiding it for several days. Good thing we have a back door. Anyway, yesterday I finally decided to use the front door to take Charlie out only to find this:

And I wondered who had attacked a scarecrow on my front stoop. And where in the hell the scarecrow came from in the first place and where was it now?

But when I walked out the door, I found this:

For a minute, I thought about how awesome it would be to have fresh eggs every morning or even succulent baby bird. But while I love birds (they are tasty), and fresh eggs every morning, I do not like bird shit all over my front porch. And considering how small our front stoop is, this would be exceptionally disgusting. So not too long after B got home, he removed the almost finished nest (one in a long series of attempted nests) and placed some chicken wire over the top of the light so they can’t build a nest there any more.

However, with the light on, it made for some neat pictures.

  • That’s so mean. :( lol! I would’ve let it stay. I hate bird poop, but I also feel guilty squashing a spider, so…

  • And then the eggs hatch and you go INSANE worrying about whether the little baby birds are going to plummet to their death on your doorstep. You made the right choice.
