So I have seen a few knitted post cards around blogland and I find them very neat. And I like the idea. So I decided to try my hand at this. I even went out and bought some mod podge and some 4×6 cardstock paper. I decided that since I am on a pirate kick as of late, my first postcard should reflect this. And so as of last night, I have this:
However, while I love the way this skull looks and the way the crossbones are turning out, I have a slight dilemma. And I know it’s hard to tell from the way I have the postcard placed behind the knitting, but my dilemma is this:
The postcard is 4×6.
My knitting is not.
In my anguish last night, I decided to try to draw the skull and crossbones on some graph paper and alter it to fight my gauge (yes, I checked. shocked? I am.) and couldn’t get the numbers to add up on the skull. I was in the depths of despair (um, not really) until I realized that I could google a skull graph and come up something more to my dimensions. Which I did. And I found something I can use. Actually I found a couple of somethings I can use. Now it’s just to decide which one I like best, rip out this, uh, test swatch (if you will) and start over.
Guess what I’ll be doing tonight.

I tell ya…thicker card stock….
I’m afraid that Modge Podge will not hold up in the mail….but I could be wrong.
