Fortuitous Hat

So, I like to have something to knit on during my lunch break or when I’m stuck in a line or whatever. And I love knitting my on-the-go project, but I am always sad when I finish it.

2010_01290004Almost done.

The pattern is one I kind of just made up on the fly and I’m really happy with how it turned out. When I got to the decreases, I didn’t worry about following the pattern of diagonal stripes I started so that 1) I wouldn’t have to do ridiculous amounts of math and 2) it was easier. For those who know my perfectionist tendencies, I know you are shaking your head in disbelief right now. And I just want you to know, I am just as surprised as you are. I actually had a harder time deciding whether or not I wanted to keep doing the diagonals or not.

Turns out it was a good thing I finished this hat today because I ended up needing it! I really love being covered in my own hand knits. I had on hand knit socks, fingerless mitts and a hat today. Oh yeah, and my ski jacket, but I didn’t knit that. (B is still bitter that everywhere around us seemed to get snow and all we got was really cold rain.)
