So I was a complete brat this past Saturday. Scott called me a princess, and not in a flattering way and I totally deserved it. I was so obnoxious that at one point I pretty much pouted and demanded that he cater to me. Actually, my exact words were, "CATER TO ME!" Sheesh, what a bitch. He’s good to put up with that. Luckily, it doesn’t happen often. Anyway, being the gentleman he is, we went out for a country drive and tried to find a place to hike. We tried. Well really, he tried, but where we were going to hike was by a river and the river was running high and he couldn’t find the trail. At least it was a pretty drive and a decent day, albeit incredibly cold.
About the cold.
I am so ready for it to be spring or summer. Anything but dreary. No more overcast and rainy days coupled with the freezing cold, ok? And yes, I know it’s no where near as bad down here in the south as it is up north, but I don’t care. I don’t live up there. I live down here and this being cold thing is something I will never get used to. NEVER. I grew up in the land of 90 degree winters, people! And I thought it was too cold to go swimming when it was only 80 something degrees outside!!!!! Freezing temperatures OUTSIDE of the freezer was PURELY HYPOTHETICAL. Until now. So I guess the knitting really does come in handy.
So a year or so ago, my mom went to Korea and brought back some clothes. One of the things she gave me was a khaki jacket. I wear it every now and then and had worn it a couple of times before I noticed that it had a pin on it that was not necessarily part of the jacket. Well, knowing my mother’s people, it was probably placed there intentionally by the makers or distributors of the jacket as some kind of weird-ass Korean bling. It’s just so random. Because, honestly, who needs a pin that says CAPPUCCINO? Does this mean I’m in some kind of coffee snob gang and that’s my induction pin? I have to admit, I was a little more than embarrassed by the pin and took it off the jacket. Now it sits in a drawer in my desk until I can figure out a use for it. Anyone need a little coffee bling?

Sometimes being a princess is just The Thing to Do. As long as it’s not all the time, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. Sometimes you have to demand the things you need.
I don’t drink much coffee anymore, but I think the pin is kind of cute. Then again, I like random, so *shrug*

Yeah, it’s totally your divine-given right to be a princess whenever you damn well feel like it.
This is, of course, someone who keeps her tiara on top of the TV set.

I think the miniature Iron Cross really counterpoints the underlying metaphor.
