Interweave Newbie

I have been resisting the temptation of buying knitting magazines, namely Interweave Knits, mostly because I felt like 4 issues a year was not quite enough. I now know the folly of my beliefs.

I bought the Spring 2004 issue this past Friday, but just read it last night. I know realize that I would be overwhelmed with things I MUST knit if there was a new issue every month! ;) I will be subscribing to this amazing knitting mag by the end of this week (payday:).

I’ve also got it in my head that I want to make a bikini and a purse. :) I have the yarn I want to use to make the purse – David’s mom got it for me. I just don’t know what kind of purse I’m going to make…yet. :) As for the bikini, I think I’ll make the Wonder Woman one in the Stitch ‘n Bitch book. Now all I need is more yarn. :)

Wonderful Weekend

I had a great weekend, even though I did have to have my eyes dilated on Saturday to finish up my eye check up and take home my contacts. At least I got a nap when I go home. :) We watched Welcome to the Dollhouse this weekend. Strange movie. And of course, Alias last night. It just gets better and better!

I did work on both Skully and Hoodie this weekend. I started a new ball of yarn on the Hoodie. I’m not sure that I added it properly, but you can’t tell, so that’s good. :) I also have 2 places in my Hoodie where I either picked up or dropped a stitch, and there’s a “hole” in those 2 places, but I’ve come too far to go back and fix them. I think they won’t be too terribly noticeable. I hope. :) SNB is this Thursday. I’m looking forward to that!

Oh, and I think I’m going to keep my bangs. I’ve been growing my hair out again, but I’ve decided that I need to keep my bangs, because I’m too impatient to grow them out, and because I think I look better with bangs than without them.

Oh, and on a movie note, who else is going to go see 13 Going On 30? I know I definitely am! Also, I went and saw Hellboy this weekend. It was very good. I was impressed. I do love comic book movies, though! :)

Knit Week

This week I’ve done more knitting than I have in a long time and it’s been great. I think it’s made me a better person. :p Well, maybe I wouldn’t go that far, but it has been great. Both of my sweaters are coming along. However, I’ve suddenly developed a roving eye for knitting more things. What’s that all about? Now I have all these ideas to make different scarves. No… Must. Stay. Focused. What was I saying? :)

Anyway, it’s Friday, the weekend is almost here and I have stuff to do so blog you guys Monday!

The Perfect Evening

Last night was just that. When I got home, I pulled out Skully and knitted to my heart’s content while watching Smallville. I’m really digging the show. I’m really excited about how fast Skully knits up since it’s such a bulky wool. I’m almost finished knitting my first skein. That’s a pretty huge accomplishment for me since this is the 5th project I’ve started since I’ve begun knitting; and if you take into account that I’ve only been knitting since December of 2003, I think I’ve come a long way in a relatively short period of time.

Of course, I also lied to myself when I started knitting saying that I would never knit sweaters. :) Still, I’m having a blast knitting Skully so far. :) I need to work on Hoodie some more, though. It’s not as fun anymore since it doesn’t knit up as fast. Still, I know I’m going to love it when it’s done. When both of them are done, really. :)

Book Club Last Night

was at my house and it all went well. David was sweet and got the house ready for me since I had to work late and he also made strawberry daquiries before going next door to hang out with the neighbors until we were done. :) We had a smashing good time. :) We’ve also picked a new book for next month: The Red Tent by ? Diamonte. I cannot remember the woman’s first name.

I didn’t get any knitting done last night, though I was sorely tempted to pick it up, but it was 10pm by the time the girls left last night and it was pretty close to 11pm when I finally made it to bed, so sleep was of the essence. :)

I think there might be a little knitting in my future this evening, though. :) Oh, and Smallville comes on tonight so that will be good. Knitting and Clark Kent, what more could a girl want. ;p

Why?

Why did I watch Average Joe: Adam Returns? That’s the first question. The second question we are all wondering is why in the hell did he pick Samantha? The third question: Did he learn nothing from his stint on Average Joe? Oh well, I guess it goes to show that no matter how sweet the guy seems, it’s all about sex in the end. He was so focused on how the girl looked. He even overlooked her unnatural obsession of dressing her dog! If I were a guy, that would be a deal breaker. Oh well, it’s his life, not mine. Thank goodness!

The good that came of all this? I got to work on my Under the Hoodie. :) It’s coming along very nicely.

We also cleaned house like crazy last night since Book Club is at my house tonight. Hopefully, I’ll find some good questions to ask. :) I wonder what the next book will be. I’m kind of hoping that David will sit in on it and maybe be interested in reading the next book. We could read it together. Right. And maybe monkeys really can fly!

Skully

I got to start on Skully yesterday. It was blissful and knits up pretty quickly since it’s such a bulky yarn. :) I was very happy with that. I got a good start on it.

Yesterday was also our 1 year wedding anniversary. We had a lovely champagne brunch at home and looked at wedding and honeymoon pictures. It was lovely. Then we went junking at the flea market. :) Always a fun pasttime. All in all it was a great day until the migraine came. :( But, I’m better now and going crazy since it is definitely Monday!

Hot Date Friday Nite

I got a call from a friend of David’s yesterday, and we’ve made plans for a double date. Nick is the sweetest guy in the world and he’s met somebody and he wants us to meet her so we’re going to the Comedy Club tonight. It should be fun and I’m looking forward to a good night of laughs! Oh, and meeting Margaret, Nick’s girlfriend. :)

Tomorrow night we’re going to eat dinner in celebration of upcoming nuptials at our favorite restaurant, Surin. Then, Sunday is our 1 year anniversary! The plan is to stay home, look at wedding and honeymoon pictures and drink champagne! :)

Gripefest . . . BEWARE!!!! :)

Why is it that men have to have a double standard about everything! My husband was mad at me because I had to work late. However, when he works late, it’s acceptable and I say something to him about it, he gets mad at me and says that he has to get it down so he’s staying late. What the *&%$#!!!!???? He doesn’t even realize he’s being hypocritical about it! That’s the scariest part!

Ok, well enough about that. My yarn has come in for the skully sweater I am going to make. I might still make it for my husband, if he shapes up. :) Nah, I’ll probably make it for him anyway. I’m going to pick that up Saturday morning after my trip to the spa.* (*spa=getting my nails done and a pedicure; I like to think of it as the poor working girl’s version of a spa day:)

I finally have some pictures of the 2 pairs of baby booties I made. I hope to get them uploaded someday soon. :) Well, enough already. I’m going to be productive now…
